Happy Spring!

I don't know about you, but I've been loving the early spring days we've been having . . . maybe not today per say (hello winter rains!) but on those days where the sun is shining and the thermometer reaches a toasty 60 degrees my whole being seems lighter and brighter, seriously, I turn into Tom Hansen in 500 Days of Summer skipping down the street with my singing & dancing entourage trailing behind me, complete with Disney cartoon birds on my shoulder. Ok, maybe that's a little much but I do feel the sun rays penetrating into my skin inspiring me to get, well everything, in shape. Most excitingly, our outdoor entertaining space, aka: the backyard.

Ahhh the yard . . . my arch nemesis!! While I could go on forever about the lawn, the flowers (that never seems to grow), the garden (that never seems to produce), etc, etc, in all honesty, it's a little boring. And, HARD WORK. But the payoff is sooooo worth it, because after the yard is in shape it's time to entertain, and I LOVE outdoor entertaining. Seriously, LOVE it with a capitol LOVE.

While our little piece of earth is nowhere near the piece of perfection as the photos below, I feel as though you can never have enough inspiration. So while my little one is taking a quick snooze I thought I share some of the outdoor spaces that I'm dreaming of.

This spread is perfect for brunch, whether you opt for the intimate table for two or a spread set for a full party, and peonies make the perfect centerpiece for either. Beautiful, fragrant, and sophisticated without being pretentious. Really, the simpler the vase, the better they look.

I have a soft spot for farms (stay tuned for the Sliger wedding 2.0 one day, it will be a farm fantasy!) so I was immediately drawn to both of these spaces, especially the picnic table with the chandelier . . . hmmm, I'm sure Brad could rig this somehow in our back yard! Usually I am not a fan of roses but when the right shade in arranged casually in glass jars I think it can be stunning.

Oh this ol' spread? It's just some quick pictures from my country estate.
Happy Spring!
