Portland or Bust!

So after a bit of a drive, and it always is with a baby in the back seat :), we arrived yesterday afternoon in Portland to a bit of a debacle . . . we were supposed to stay here:

but ended up down the street at the Portland Downtown Hilton (don't ask . . . ). The Hilton is still very nice, and on a weird note the manager somehow knows me, but walking into The Nines was like stepping into my own little design oasis, just walking in the front door gave me an “ahhhhhh” moment! Can’t you just see a Bliss Events office in this foyer?! I can!

The Nines Foyer

Hotel debacle and all our trip is off to a great start, besides Jackson seems to love the hotel :).

The weather is perfect, the city is clean, kid/pug friendly, and absolutely beautiful. Since Brad is working most of the day, Jackson & I are off exploring on our own, so far we’ve walked the riverfront, visited Stumptown Coffee (the original home - go Portland!), and joined daddy for lunch at Southpark (seafood grill). Check out our amazing lunch of Grilled Pork Sandwiches with Apple-Currant Chutney and Mozzarella Burrata Salad . . . perfect on the summer afternoon. Added bonus, all the ingredients to these delish dishes are supplied by local organic farmers. Love that!

This afternoon we’re off the Pearl District, Portland’s shopping & eating mecca (poor us!), and then off to dinner at Pok Pok, a local Thai restaurant that has won numerous write ups in foodie magazines and won Oregonian Restaurant of the year in 2007. Can't wait!

Also on our list this week: the Portland Zoo, The Bite of Oregon, and Portland Saturday Market, and as much shopping & dining as the little one can handle!!
Stay tuned for more of our Portland adventures & many thanks to Marissa for all the great ideas!
