Michigan Madness

Sorry for the lack of news everyone, we've been crazed here at the Sliger house o' projects (more on that tomorrow!), believe me even Jackson's been in on the action. Check out my "assistant" gardener hard at work.

This past weekend we took a break from it all and flew east to Ann Arbor, MI to visit some of our best pals, the Yuens, and to witness the utter craziness of a mid-west football weekend. We were lucky enough to be visiting Ann Arbor for the Michigan vs. Michigan State game (a holiday I learned that could easily be called "Christmas in October" for the thousands of die-hard MI football fans) and I'd be lying if I said we didn't catch the fever, it's intoxicating!! Check us out in all our "big house" gear . . . see what I mean!

Though game day was VERY fun, I have to say football-palooza or not, Ann Arbor is the quaintest little town ever. It only took a quick tour for us to fall in love with the tree lined streets, inviting front porches (we spent A LOT of time enjoying the Yuen's porch!), the charming town square, the absolutely beautiful buildings on the U of M campus, and the fabulous eats offered at a large selection of locally owned cafes, delicatessen, and pubs. Ann Arbor folk know how to eat!

While we chose to spend most of our time at the Yuen B&B (these guys don't mess around when it comes to playing hosts!), letting Jackson have some quality time with "auntie & uncle", we did venture out to Ann Arbor's famous deli, Zingerman's. The line to order wrapped around the building but it was definitely worth the wait . . . in fact we loved it so much that we made an 'emergency' stop there on our way to the airport.

Another bonus to eating at Zingerman's . . . . it's located next store to one of the cutest baby boutiques I've even been to, Elephant Ears. Not only is it PACKED with designer baby goods but there is a mini-boutique just for mom, right inside the store. After breaking the bank for the little ones, mom can ease her pain by choosing a goodies for herself, from home goods, to designer wears, to spa treats. Let's just say it's a good thing we live across the country from this store!

It was a wonderful trip full of the best that mid-west living has to offer: good food, good fun, and especially good friends. Thanks again Yuens for showing us a great time and sharing the amazing life you've built for yourselves in A2! xoxo, the Sligers
