Summer Fun

After a summer full of many, many weddings (which we LOVED going too!), summer projects, BBQs, and weekend trips last summer . . . all of which left us traveling every weekend and with endless mountains of laundry . . . we promised ourselves we'd have a pre-baby, low-key summer this year. Well, that great plan lasted until around Memorial Day . . . but hey, I summer does only come once a year, so why not enjoy it right?!

In honor of the 100 degree heat week (God are you listening?!? . . . this is the summer I counted on a traditional crappy Seattle summer!! Pregnant plus death defying temps does not make for a happy girl!!) I thought I would post a few pics from some of our favorite summer memories so far!

Above are some of my favorite pics from Marissa's birthday picnic at the Mercer Island Lid! In honor of her new home, my gal pal Shannon & I thought "the lid" was the perfect place for a surprise birthday picnic. But, being the party planners we love to be, we simply couldn't have beer & hot dogs . . . oh no, we set up a spread that Martha herself would have been proud of. Complete with centerpieces on picnic blankets, bubbles, cupcakes from Trophy (yum!), and BBQ chicken served in individual paper take-out boxes.
Top row: Brad "coaching" Macadam on his crawling, picnic decor, Macadam getting in the party spirit!
Middle row: The birthday girl, Marissa!, Ella, enjoying the view of Seattle from the Island . . . don't worry parents, daddy's there, he's just hiding for the pic!
Bottom row: The ladies at sunset, a meeting of minds, Rob showing off how we like to babysit, the Faw boys and the Sligers.

For my 30th birthday Brad & my best ladies threw me the surprise party of the century! What a lucky lady I am, seriously, these guys left no love of mine unturned . . . the day consisted of a girls brunch at 35th Street Bistro, manis & pedis at Julep, a pre-natal massage at Spa Scotta . . . AND THEN a surprise summer cocktail party that any wedding planner would have been honored to attend! In addition to having gathered about 50 of our closest Seattle pals, these guys spent months preparing endless special little touches for the night's festivities. Let's put it this way, all the things that I repeatedly tell my clients are essential for making their 'big day' unforgettable, were ALL over this party!! Kudos to the planning team, I love you guys! Below are some of my favorite details from the party!

Top row: Cocktail table centerpieces, one of the multiple signature cocktails (also provided in non-alco for the mommy of honor!), cupcakes with "Yum" signs - how cute!
Middle row: The spread, featuring all my favorite Italian inspired bites, the picnic area, for those guests wanting to kick back in style!
Bottom row: Yet another signature cocktail (love the presentation!), Henry & I hanging from the photo wall . . . all done in the signature color scheme of yellow & gray (my fave of the moment!), the flower balls that hung from the ceiling of the cocktail tent . . . again Martha, take notes!
And, here's a sampling of the fabulous faces that attended! Notice the prom-style photo booth that our pals Amy & Taylor are workin'!

The last collection of yummies for the eyes come from our recent camping trip to Camano Island . . . yes, this makes camping trip #3 for me & my belly this summer, with one more to go . . . I'm trying to get my picture listed as the new official definition for "trooper" in the dictionary! Belly or not, this weekend was a blast! Perfect weather, great friends, and as always, our version of Top Chef, camping style. No foodie goes hungry when this group travels together! The only sad moment of the weekend, was that this trip marked our last weekend trip with our great friends the Yuens, as they will be hittin' the road and starting fresh in Ann Arbor, Michigan come August 9th, as Bobby continues his journey in becoming the smartest man alive . . . he's getting close folks! Words cannot even describe how much we'll miss these two, but I know the Ann Arbor is in for a treat when the Yuens arrive and breath a new life into this quaint little college town! We love you Bobby & Shannon!

Top row: The Sligers beach combing (look close, baby S is trying to pop into the pic!), Keli multi-tasking, the Morris family.
Middle row: Shannon, god's gift to kiddos (and moms) everywhere, camping toast, Keri & Brad . . . always the doggie parents :), our new great pals Erin, Micheal, and of course Lila!
Bottom row: The 'required' group photo, Shannon & Marissa (aka: my left & right arm), play time on the beach.

More summer fun soon to come!
