Parent's Retreat

This past weekend Brad & I traveled north to Salt Springs Island, BC for our last weekend getaway before baby and discovered our newest favorite little piece of heaven! Have you even been to a place where the spirit & energy of the people that live there is simply intoxicating? That is Salt Springs to a tee! Separated from Vancouver by a 3 hour ferry ride, this island & it's eclectic mix of residents have made the island into a haven for people who live with only one purpose: to follow their passions & live the best live they can . . . minus all the noise that it's so easy to get clouded with when living a busy, busy pace of city life. I could go on and on about the specialness of this little oasis in the northern pacific, but to sum it up, it's one of those place where you feel in touch with your true self & everything that really matters. And to me, that's the beauty of travel my friends!

While we were there we visited the weekly farmer's market (in which the entire island turns out for), played at the fall fair (too cute!), visited a few of the many, many art studios, and chatted it up with a number of very friendly residents, all who had great stories to tell about their journey to Salt Springs.

And I have to give a little individual praise to Cedar Mountain Gallery. Not only did this artist bring me to tears (no laughing, I'm pregnant people!!) with her inspiring life story, but her work is amazing! Check out the uber cute, vintage art block that I bought for the nursery from Cedar Mountain. After all, it's never too early to introduce a little Dylan into your kiddo's life!
