Making baby food . . . feeding baby food.
I have to dedicate my first official post back to my oh-so-chic and ever encouraging pal Sarah, who always reminds me that my words are never in vain. There’s propose & joy in everything I write . . . even if it’s just bringing a little fun or pretty to your day! Thanks Sarah!! Soo . . . . This past weekend we hosted a small bbq for Sarah & friends and due to a lack of outdoor dining furniture (currently still in pieces in our garage) I had to get crafty, quick! I love to entertain, my guests know this, so I could not disappoint :). The fix: two card tables, a piece of floral patterned oil cloth from Burnt Sugar, and the cutest little juice glasses from Anthropologie. My inspiration: “Porch Parties”, which was a perfect birthday gift from a dear friend.
On the menu:
Flank Steak with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes
Sweet Potato Fries with Sea Salt
Arugula and Strawberry Salad with Goat Cheese and Balsamic Vinagerette
“Grown-up” S’mores for dessert (s’mores made with Lu’s Le Petit Little School Boy Dark Chocolate Cookies, instead of Hershey’s and graham crackers)
It was a great night full of good food, good wine, and great friends. Nights like this are what summer is all about! Of course our pals’ company was gift enough but Sarah, being the amazing gifter she is, brought along the perfect summer hostess’s gift , a potted basil plant. Not only do I think that giving plants that keep on giving is uber chic (instead of the traditional flowers), it’s green . . . and you know how us Seattlies love our green! Thank you Sarah!
Want to give a potted herb next time your going somewhere for dinner? In addition to basil, try giving rosemary, sage, or lavender, all of which have an enticing aroma . . . yum! Your hostess will be in the mood to cook just smelling these lovelies, sure to have you back for a return dinner soon.
Bon Appetit! Ahhhh, it’s good to be back!
