It’s days like this when I’m deep in frumpsville that I salute and cheer mamas like Teal, author of Expecting Chic. Not only is she a fellow new mom and UW staffer (go dawgs!) but she’s committed to being the stylish, polished, pulled together mother that’s also, . . . wait for it, COMPLETELY REAL. Ladies, she shops on a budget – not a Barney’s budget, but a H&M budget, she knows that she’s not going to be running around town pushing a stroller in stilettos ala mama Kourtney Kardashian, and she’s honest about the fact that ‘body after baby’ doesn’t happen (for most of us) overnight. But she still rocks it, reality (and pnw) style.

A Cure For the Frumps
I’ve been feeling a wee bit frumpy lately. I have mixed and matched all of my work clothes so many times that my once beloved items don’t seem remotely fashion savvy, or even cute, by noon anymore, my bod is not where I’d like it to be (arm spanx anyone?!), and even on my most put together days I end up getting to my office with at least one spot of dried food, booger, or random baby stain on me. Add in red allergy eyes, no sleep black eye circles, and pale, dry winter skin and you’ve got yourself one hot mama mess. Come on ladies, I know you’ve been there . . . right?!

Frumpsville and all, her guest blogger post on Cool Kidz (March 21) has me dreaming of how cute I’m going to look chasing Jackson in the park . . . wearing my fedora. I think I might have just found the perfect cure for the frumps.

ReplyDeleteThanks! Love sharin' great finds!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow - this is just too nice! I am extremely complimented. Thank you so much for the mention! And I'll tell you right now: I'm living the "frump" each day, post-baby. It's natural, normal and just something to keep on fighting through for our own sanity, well-being and self esteem. It is amazing what some mascara and a nice sweater will do. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteOf course! Always excited when I "meet" a new mom who is also has equal love for the babes and a little style. We should have coffee when you return to campus, I'd love to meet & chat about the crazy world of baby blogs.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I'm back in May - I'll ping you then.
