Since Jackson was born in November our house has been a whirlwind of craziness. The constant stream of family, friends, the acquiring of things and more (baby) things, the never ending cycle of sleeplessness, emotions, laundry, overwhelming frustration, followed by overwhelming joy. Simply put, we’ve been a first class gong show :), but supposedly (according to my “sources”) being a gong show is completely normal for new parents. Yeah for us!! We’re NORMAL . . . supposedly!
Of course with a month full of no blogging means a month full of amazing Jackson moments to record . . . so I decided to take a short break from my blogging hiatus to share his latest and greatest.
First up, the amazing, incredible sitter!! Jackson’s officially joined the land of the upright and is loving it. All of a sudden the discovery of sitting has given him such a sense of independence, sass, and well, rhythm! He wants to do things himself (and isn’t shy about being demanding about it), has a raging sense of humor, and loves to drum (any surface will do) and clap to a beat that only he can hear :).
With sitting also comes eating, and eating on the run, check out Mother’s Day breakfast on the ferry. Priceless!
My first Mother’s Day was incredible, full of sappy moments (provided by me!) and special moments (provided by Brad!). We packed up the family and headed to San Juan Island, with stops at the local market and San Juan Winery to grab the fixins’ for the perfect picnic on the beach.
We also wanted to spend Mother’s Day weekend with another special lady in Jackson’s life, Grandma Sliger. Here she is braving dinner out with a baby (ahhhh!) at our favorite neighborhood hangout, the Maple Leaf Grill (to die for!).
Next up on our month of ease agenda, Jackson’s first camping trip! The sun-gods shone down on us and our crew and gave us two sun filled days at Deception Pass. Short, sweet, sunny . . . just how baby’s first camping trip should be! Jackson did amazing (a true outdoors man), but we did have some great helpers with us (when you have a 21lb baby, you need all the extra arms you can get)!
note: warning, warning: don’t look to closely at this picture, the lack of sleep & showering can cause eye trauma!
And lastly, what’s a month of easy without a weekend at the beach – parents only?! Thanks to our brilliant pals, Adam & Sarah, who held their wedding in Sayulita, Mexico last weekend, we were able to spend some much needed grown up time on the beach, margaritas in hand. I could begin to describe just how perfect this weekend wedding was but then this really would be a book and not a blog (though I know it’s getting close already with this entry!). but let’s just say it was the perfect weekend filled with friends, love, laughter, a beautiful bride & groom, good food, good drink, and a whole lot of ‘ease’!
Here's Jackson "helping" me pack! He did this himself, REALLY . . . could I have a little ham-hocked, rugby playing, fashionista on my hands?!?! Hmmmm . . .
Our casa: Casablanca, Sayulita, Mexico . . . amazing views, rooms, and owners. Be a guest and be blessed with their hospitality!
Thank you Sarah & Adam for a wonderful weekend and beautiful memories! We are so honored to have been part of your big day and wish you nothing but happiness! Congrats and happy honeymooning!
Hope your May was just as merry!
xoxo,
the sligers
